I’m a Presbyterian pastor. This tells you two things about me: I have an irresistible attraction to committees, and I have a theological commitment to not taking myself too seriously.
I am also a (very!) part-time Ph.D. student at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, where I study leadership formation in the church.
Married to a wonderful woman who is way (WAY!) out of my league, I’m the father to three children who are parented through a combination of sarcasm and grace.
I love science fiction and fantasy. I also love occasional pipe smoking, craft beer, BBQ, and spring in Eastern North Carolina. I enjoy a good poem and occasional literary fiction, too.
I’m pretty sure Chuck Klosterman and I could be best friends.
Also, I might be a hobbit.
“Their faces were good-natured rather than beautiful, broad, bright-eyed, red-cheeked, with mouths apt to laughter, and to eating and drinking.” – J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
